Since the emergency began, Avianca, a member of Grupo Abra, has made one of the most extensive airline operations deployed by the sector available to support relief efforts across the country. The airline has facilitated the transportation of humanitarian aid, rescue equipment, medical personnel and cargo from different countries. In this context, the airline has facilitated the transportation of more than 500 tons of humanitarian aid aboard cargo aircraft and through its regular passenger network, while ensuring the transportation of more than 230 rescue and medical professionals to the areas requiring priority assistance.
“The scale of this emergency has required the coordination of capabilities both within and beyond Colombia. Facilitating the arrival of international aid and the transportation of specialized personnel demonstrates the role an airline network can play when its purpose extends beyond operations to focus on connecting aid, capabilities and opportunities for those who need them most,” said Ángela María Orozco, Avianca’s senior vice president of Corporate Affairs.
