FedEx Dubai World Central Hub Achieves IATA CEIV Pharma Certification

Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) has announced that its Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa hub at Dubai World Central (DWC) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has achieved the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma certification.

FedEx holds 30 CEIV Pharma certifications across its global air hubs and cargo handling facilities, reinforcing the company’s commitment to precision, quality, and excellence in transporting critical, temperature-sensitive shipments for the healthcare industry.

Awarded following a rigorous assessment of more than 280 criteria, the CEIV Pharma certification validates the hub’s capabilities across operational processes, storage facilities, equipment, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance, helping safeguard product integrity throughout the supply chain.

The FedEx hub at DWC is purpose-built to support these standards. Spanning 57,000 square meters, the facility is equipped with advanced automation, high-speed security screening, dangerous goods handling, and a 170-square-meter temperature-controlled storage area designed to support sensitive healthcare shipments.

The certification supports the UAE’s growing role as a regional healthcare and life sciences hub. According to Research and Markets, the country’s pharmaceutical market is projected to reach USD 7.38 billion by 2030[1], underpinned by continued investment in medical infrastructure, innovation, and clinical research. As demand for reliable cold-chain logistics grows in step with this expansion, FedEx supports this growth through its global network, specialized healthcare solutions, and digital technologies that help businesses move critical shipments with confidence.

“Achieving the CEIV Pharma certification reflects our continued commitment to delivering healthcare logistics services that meet the highest international standards,” said Taarek Hinedi, vice president Operations and Planning & Engineering at FedEx Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa. “As supply chains become increasingly complex, healthcare customers need logistics providers that can safeguard product integrity while ensuring speed, compliance, and reliability. Our hub at DWC is a critical gateway connecting businesses across the region to our global network, combining specialized cold-chain expertise, advanced technology, and visibility to help move critical shipments with precision and care.”
To further enhance healthcare shipment visibility, the company combines its AI-powered FedEx Surround monitoring and intervention solution with FedEx SenseAwareSM sensor technology to provide near real-time insights into package location, temperature, and environmental conditions, enabling proactive intervention when required.
