SWISS WorldCargo starts transporting shipments to Bengaluru

SWISS WorldCargo transported its first shipments to its new destination: India’s fourth-largest city Bengaluru (formerly Bangalore) in Southern India. The first flight marked the beginning of SWISS WorldCargo’s new service – with a frequency of five times weekly – in the Winter 2026/27 Timetable from late October until 27 March 2027.

The new eastbound LX 140 service will depart from Zurich five times a week at 13:20 and arrive in Bengaluru at 02:55 the following day. The westbound LX 141 service will leave Bengaluru at 04:50 and arrive in Zurich at 10:50 the same day.

Bengaluru is one of Asia’s leading centers of technology and innovation. Along with international tech corporations, numerous European companies operate in the Bengaluru region, which has developed in the past few years into a major high-tech and innovation hub.

SWISS WorldCargo already connects Switzerland to India via daily flights to both Mumbai and Delhi. With the new addition of Bengaluru, new opportunities open for the airfreight division’s customers to transport their cargo to a new area of the country. Ultimately, SWISS WorldCargo’s network is not just about moving cargo; it is about connecting businesses to opportunities.

In fact, from an air cargo point of view, India is a strategically important destination for SWISS WorldCargo’s business, driven by its large and fast-growing economy, expanding international trade, strong manufacturing base, and rising demand for fast, reliable logistics. Its role as both an import market and an export hub makes it particularly attractive for SWISS’ airfreight division’s operations.

Bengaluru in particular is one of India’s most important air cargo gateways, combining a strong technology and manufacturing ecosystem with growing international connectivity through Kempegowda International Airport (BLR). Some of the sectors of interest include pharmaceuticals and healthcare (medicines, vaccines, and temperature-controlled shipments), electronics and high-tech (components, semiconductors, and consumer electronics), automotive and industrial manufacturing (spare parts and time-critical components), textiles and fashion, and some specific perishable goods (fresh produce and flowers).

These industries generate demand for reliable, time-sensitive air cargo connections to Europe and beyond. This is where SWISS WorldCargo’s expertise steps in to fulfil these needs as specialized air cargo carrier for high-value and care-intensive consignments and temperature-sensitive shipments.

“The launch of new nonstop services between Zurich and Bengaluru is an important step in strengthening our presence in India” said Alain Chisari, Head of SWISS WorldCargo. “We are excited to provide our cargo customers with a new gateway for their high-value, care-intensive and temperature-sensitive cargo, and look forward to contributing to SWISS’ success in Southern India.”
